During our short 9-day stint in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, we managed to squeeze in a short visit to the popular microbrewery Le Prospecteur in Val d’Or, Quebec. The service was amazing, with our server arriving seconds after we sat down. We tried a few tasters including their barley wine, which I was particulary impressed with. For such a strong beer (I believe it was about 10% alcohol content), there was no overly strong alcohol taste, and had a nice smooth finish. We then headed over to their gift shop, recently opened in December of 2015. Kenny, who works at Le Prospecteur, generously provided me with some photos, shown below.
If you’re ever driving through Val d’Or, make sure to stop in at the Prospecteur for a sampler and a quick bite to eat, you won’t regret it!
