Lately I have been scrolling through one of my favorite websites for passing time, Instagram, in search of the perfect baby knitting patterns.
Don’t worry, I’m not pregnant.
But I do love knitting for babies! The knitting patterns are always so quick, easy and fun to knit up. And lately I’ve come across so many eye-catching and beautiful accounts that they are worth following for the eye candy alone.
Here’s a list of my top 7 accounts to find baby knitting patterns on Instagram.
1. Paelas
Paelas was founded in 2014 by three Norwegian knitwear designers who wanted to create timeless and beautiful knitting patterns for newborns and children from 0 to 6 years old. Lucky for us, their knitting patterns are translated to English and can be found on their Ravelry page here.
Some of my favorites include the Fin Tights and the Quick Knit Suit. I also love the beautiful ruffles incorporated into their patterns, such as this one shown here.
2. Knitting for Olive
Knitting for Olive is a family run company based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and offers patterns in both English and Danish. They have a wonderful selection of patterns on their website. I’m a particular fan of the Blueberry Body and Bean Sprout Bloomers.
3. Strikdet
Strikdet is another Danish designer living in Copenhagen who offers both English and Danish translations for all of her patterns. I love the little details she adds to her patterns, such as the tassels in the Filias Fall Suit and the ribbon in the Sailor Bubble Shorts. Such small touches go a long way in creating the look of the final garment. Strikdet also has their own Strikdet yarn line which they use in creating their beautiful knit garments.
4. Ministrikk
Ministrik’s English pattern selection can be found here. My favorite design (although it also looks to be the most ambitious) is the puffer jacket, although I’d be tempted to make it into a bigger size for myself!
5. Little Ediths Knit
Little Ediths Knit is yet another wonderful knitwear designer from Norway. Unfortunately, their pattern selection in English is a bit more limited, but still a worthwhile Instagram account to follow for the knitting inspiration alone!
6. Klompe Lompe
You can find English translations of Klompe Lompe’s patterns that can be purchased on their website here.
7. Kalinka Kids
So let’s say you don’t have the time or skills to knit these beautiful creations. Well then head over to Kalinka Kids and purchase an already handknit garment. Nora Docheva, a knitter from Bulgaria, has created some stunning knitwear for your little ones to wear. You can find a great selection to choose from here.
By the way, if you haven’t guessed it already, strikke means to knit in Norwegian. And just to let you know, I didn’t purposefully search out Norwegian and Danish baby knitwear designers. But it does seem that my Instagram account is a bit partial towards them. Or is it that the Nordic countries really do have more knitwear designers specializing in baby knitting patterns than the rest of the world?
